INCLUSIVE TEAM-BUILDING THROUGH HIP HOP
I facilitate empowering and enriching workshops that foster deeper connection, empathy, and trust within teams. The workshops are a fun and effective alternative to reactive trainings that address the symptoms rather than the causes of micro-aggressions and other manifestations of disconnection in the workplace.
I guide teams through activities that explore their backgrounds, relationships, values, pain points, and strengths through hip hop. This innovative and adaptive model is tailored to the unique ecosystem of each team, and is a powerful tool for building communication, connection, and empathy between team members.
I specialize in growing trust and communication at the intersection of institutional hierarchy and personal identity, especially when power differentials in the workplace are exacerbated by issues of race and ethnicity, gender identities, and sexuality. This is the place where tension and fear threaten a team member’s ability to show up authentically and work effectively.
Partnering with renowned hip hop artists and utilizing a hip hop cypher model, I invite team members to circle up and step outside of the rigidity of their roles. Participants use hip hop as an intermediary tool to tackle sensitive issues in the workplace, sharing the experiences that have shaped their identities, building empathy and respect, and aligning on core values.
